94 Years Remembered in 94 Days-Post 63 (The Farm in Virginia)

This past Labor Day weekend,  a celebration was held in the Washington D.C. area to celebrate Mary Scott's 95th birthday.   Mary was our Uncle Tom's wife.  She and Teresa were close but became closer when they were the only two left of the original seven siblings and their spouses.

Mary and Teresa would often talk on the phone during my years in Douglas.  This continued for about another year when we moved her up to the valley.

Unfortunately, we were not able to go to this celebration this year.   I really feel badly that we didn't get there to wish Mary a very happy 95th birthday.

In July, 2016, we took Teresa to Virginia for the eastern Scotts' Family Reunion at "The Farm in Virginia."   It was a difficult trip for her as that was really the beginning of the slide downhill with her memory and her exhaustion.   She really wanted to go.  However, when we got there she didn't remember why we came.   She was very confused.

The one thing she was able to do for a long time, was "pretend" to be okay around family members.   This would absolutely exhaust her.  When they would leave, she was so tired from working so hard to try to remember and talk to people.

I felt that this would probably be her last trip.  But we did take one last trip to Oakland in September to see Patrick's house and visit with our northern California cousins.

I absolutely love this picture of Teresa and Mary walking together at the Farm.  I am not sure why it touches my heart so much.

Here are a few other pictures from the July 4th Celebration in Virginia.

The picture above is Mary and Teresa having lunch where Mary lives in Bethesda, Maryland.

This is at the Farm in Virginia last July!

Although we couldn't be there to celebrate with Mary, I want to wish her a very happy 95th birthday and thank her for her devotion  and kindness to Teresa!
