A Very Special Day--June 24, 2021

When Dave and I got married in May, 2018, we were not able to get married in the church because his marriage had not been annulled in the Catholic Church.  He had not started the process and we knew that it would take some time for this to happen.  We decided that didn't want to wait for that to happen to get married because of our ages.  My marriage was annulled in the 1980's so I was okay.

He went through the process that summer and had to get letters from people that knew him and about his first marriage.  I never mention his ex, but she told Dave that she would do everything to prevent him from getting married in the church (even though she doesn't go to church) and she did fight it.  However, we received the news that the marriage was annulled last fall.

Dave spoke with the priest here in Butte and he suggested we contact the parish in Gilbert.  I was told that in order to get married in Gilbert, we would have to go through nine months of pre-counseling.  That wasn't really something we wanted to do.  So Dave called Father Haffey again and he said to just wait until we got here this summer and we could do it here in Butte.

Two weeks ago we met with Father for about 20 minutes.  We filled out paperwork and set the date for Thursday at 5:00 at St. Ann's here in Butte.  John Uggetti, Dave's cousin, is the Deacon at St. Ann's so he agreed to perform the ceremony.  Dave's cousins, Maura and Chuck, stood up for us.  We invited several of his family and a couple of good friends to celebrate with us.

After the ceremony, we had everyone join us for dinner at the Rib and Chop House where Dave proposed to me.  We had reservations and they gave us a separate room and even put on the Suns game (which didn't end well).  The service and the food was wonderful.  We had seventeen people join us and it was such a wonderful evening.

We are blessed to have found each other so late in life and I am truly blessed to have found such a good man who treats me so well and loves me unconditionally (as long as he gets to golf when he wants)!
